Window bump stops?

Recently replaced my window regulator and now the window won't go all the way down... About an inch of glass sits above the door when it's in the down position.

In the up position everything fits perfect, seals and everything just fine.

Any ideas?

See if your regulator came with 2 stops installed, unless you put in the upper stop yourself. If so, remove the upper stop.

Hmm, I got it from suncoast.

I didn't install any additional stops, but that sounds like it.

Will I need to remove the panel again or can I make these adjustments from below?

Too bad about the pictures, but they were not mine.

Here is a regulator I bought a few years ago. It had 2 stops installed, with torx screws. That is the way it came out of the plastic bag. So for a 996 you would remove the upper stop before you put the regulator in, or the window would not go down all the way. For a 986 you would leave the upper stop in place. Yellow lines are to the upper and lower stops.

That is my guess as to what your problem is since the stops are about 1 3/4" apart. Only one way to find out for sure ... door panel comes off again.

Alrighty, thanks man. Tore it apart and sure enough, there was another little bumpstop.

Unfortunately some time during this whole ordeal my Airbag light came on. I tried disconnecting the battery for several hours and it's still on.

How can I go about turning that light off and why do you suppose it's come on? I did reconnect the battery with the airbag disconnected to test the regulator per the instructions on here. Did I not completely reattach the connector? Any ideas?

Only way to turn the airbag light off is with a PST2, PIWIS, or Durametric tool. Durametric is highly recommended, and reasonably priced for its functions. In my personal experience, customer service and technical support has been first class.

Why did the light go off? What triggers it?

You must have had the battery connected, the air bag disconnected, and the ignition turned on. The air bag control unit then thinks there is a fault in the system and the warning light comes on.

Drats. Do you know who owns that boxster DIY window regulator page? It explicitly says "now would be a good time to test the motor to make sure everything works" while the airbag is disconnected. That should be edited out.
