Is this normal? My guess would be no.

Any ideas?

The window travels down at the same speed as the driver’s, but stops about 3 inches from the bottom. Like it is supposed to stop there.

No it is not normal. Try re-teaching the window.

1. Press and hold button until the window is all the way up - then hold 10 seconds.

2. Do the same to bring the windows down - again hold for 10 seconds.

3. Test the the one-push open and close.

If it still occurs note whether the window even or at an angle?

Okay, I tried what you suggested and it still stops short.

As for the angle, do you mean laterally (side to side) or longitudinally (front to back)? Either way, the angle appears the same as the driver’s side.

How hard it is to take the door panel off? Are there detailed instructions that I can follow?

Problem solved!

Here was the problem, the window won't go down all the way:

After following Loren’s steps to remove the door panel, I noticed that the forward track was being stopped by a factory stopper.

I noticed there was another stopper below that. Pulled out the upper stopper and the window was able to run to the bottom. Cool.

I have two questions for you.

1) Are you saying that that the window was working fine then started stopping short. Then by removing the green stopper it was fine? While I am glad that fixed the problem it seems to me that something else it out of whack to require that large of an adjustment.

2) From your pictures of the adjustment mechanism it appears that small adjustments are doable without removing the panel. You should be able to remove the black rubber plug from beneath the door and use a 5mm hex key. Is this correct? Is the black rubber plug the one towards the rear of the door?

1) I bought the car at the end of June and it was like that then.

2) You are correct, the adjustments are doable from under the door, as noted in the picture. I happened to be there and snapped a few pictures to show the mechanism that had been stated previously in the forum.

Thanks for the pictures. This helps me as my driver's window, while it does not stick up, is just even with the rubber seal while the passenger side is just below the seal. This has always bugged me but was never enough of an issue to take the door apart. Now I know I can fix it simply.

Remember there is an adjuster on the other side too. I would think if you turned each adjuster the same amount of turns, you'll keep the window level (I'm sure you are aware of that).

great pictures and explanation Darren..i have wind noise coming from my drivers window in the mirror area which i think is turbulance noise getting through because the glass might not be going all the way up...ill try the adjustments and see what happens. :unsure:

Wish I could take pictures that good.

I suspect your regulator was replaced before you bought the car. The regulator is designed to use a high or low stop, and the high stop was not removed.

Last time I watched a regulator replacement the regulator came with the extra stop in a plastic bag with a pop rivet to install it. This is the upper stop in the picture. It was not used for the car I watched, which was a 996. So the Boxster must use the lower stop.

In the old days a replacement regulator came with both stops installed with torx screws. That way you could remove the upper stop for use on a 996 application.

didnt make any difference im afraid...im looking at the mirror seal now.
