Hello all, been lurking here for awhile, got my first Porsche in October, a 2007 911 Carrera S. Wanted to share this and see if anybody has seen this before. Started my car up the other day and was greeted by discolored pixels in my Central display of the instrument panel. Called a few dealers and no service advisors had heard of the problem before. I am 4 months out of warranty and before taking it to dealer I went ahead and opened a goodwill case with PCNA, took it in for inspection on Thursday at Porsche of Tysons Corner in Virginia. Service consultant said most likely I should expect some level of participation from Porsche with best case being 75% of part. Anyway the claim was denied next day. Not posting here to complain about the denial of goodwill, it is disappointing but I am not the original owner and it is outside the warranty period, but just see if anybody else has had this happen to their cluster.

Hey Don

I do not know what your problem is, but one piece of advice, do not take your car to Porsche of Tysons. I live by their dealership but I always take my car to Rockville for any issues. I had many problems with HBL when I had Ny Mercedes. When I boîte a Porsche the manager at HBL assured me that my problems would not continue when I take my C2S 911 there. I found out that's not the case when I took my car to Tysons and got in a fight with the service manager and he was trying hard to get my car's warranty voided. After I got my car back in worse shape than I took it in and went to Rockville, the head mechanic there spent the first week fixing everything Porsche of Tysons screwed up on my car. The Porsche of rockville has one of the most well known Porsche head mechanics and a much friendlier staff.

Good luck

Those are dead spots.

Lets say that the pixels are not working.

If you take your car to a Porsche dealer they will try to charge you a new cluster unit since they do not sell just the display unit as a spare part.

Best Regards,

Maika

I have the same issue on my 2006 997. It started on a very cold night 15 Feb 2013. Never seen this before. Hope it goes away with hot weather. Thanks.Sapo

I am opening up an old post but has anyone had a situation where warmer weather has not corrected the frozen/dead pixel situation.

Mine has not corrected and the cost of replace the cluster is $3500 plus two hours of labor.

Dealer says a used cluster cannot be installed due to the mileage re-activation needed by Porsche.

Thanks in advance.
